Welcome to the uFish Ireland website, where you can find all the details you need to go angling in the Foyle and Carlingford catchments.

A rod licence is required to fish on rivers and lakes (known locally as loughs) in the Loughs Agency area. This applies equally to those fishing for trout, coarse fish and salmon.

Licences are available as a season licence (£16), 14 day licence (£8), 3 day licence (£3.50) and juvenile licence (£2).

Holders of game fishing licences issued in other parts of Ireland (north and south) can obtain an endorsement from the Loughs Agency that authorises them to fish in Agency waters (£1 at time of publication).

There are also approved distributors - please go to the Licence and Permit distributors page to find the nearest one to you.

In addition to a rod licence, it is a requirement to hold a permit to fish on many stretches of river and on many of the lakes in the Foyle system. Guidance is often available from local licence distributors or check with the Loughs Agency. As an indication of affordability, a typical day permit costs in the region of £10.

The Loughs Agency encourages anglers to release their quarry. Certainly, fish that are less than the permitted size must be returned and no more fish should be retained than the bag limit in force, the annual limit, other limits generally or limits particular to a stretch of water.

Holders of season Rod Licences issued by DAERA can now also be endorsed by Loughs Agency for £1.00
